Swiss House of Parliament

The Swiss Houses of Parliament and government buildings are located next to the Bellevue Palace. Guided tours are conducted free of charge (except when Parliament is in session).

Right in front of the Parliament Building is the Federal Square. State visits and political demonstrations are held on this spot. Every Tuesday and Saturday the farmers market takes place here.

The square is dominated by a 30 times 60 Meter rectangle made out of natural stone (Gneis from Vals). To the right there is a water play made out of 26 fountains. The fountains represent the 26 different cantons of Switzerland.
