Concierge Tip: Caverns of St. Beatus

The St. Beatus Caves are about one hour drive away from the Bellevue Palace, hidden in the mountains around Lake Thun. Approximately 14 kilometers of the cave system has been explored already. Visitors can enter 1 kilometer into the mountain on a well-lit walkway. There are countless stalactites and stalagmites to discover. Wide halls and gorges create a fascinating atmosphere deep underground. The Caverns are open daily from mid-March to mid-November.

A visit at the caverns is especially recommendable on rainy days or when you would like to escape the sum-mer heat into cooler areas. Make sure you pack a jacket for your day trip. The constant yearly temperatures at the caverns are only 8-10°C.
