Clock Tower

The Bernese „Zyglogge“ – Clock Tower – is this summer even more magnificent. After an extensive renova-tion of the façade, the roof and the clock mechanism, the Zytglogge is set and ready for this summer season. It is today one of the oldest clock towers in Switzerland, but at the beginning it used to be the first west gate to the city (1191-1256). The astronomic calendar clock and the moving figures date back to 1530 and are today one of the most visited attractions of the city of Bern. Every full hour the spectacle can be observed from the east side of the tower. Whoever is interested in the mechanics and the history of the clock, can book a tour to visit the inside of the attraction.
