This impressive museum (located on the other side of the River Aare) is only a leisurely stroll from the Bellevue Palace.

The Paul Klee Centre (which opened in 2005), comprises some 4000 of the 10,000 paintings, water-colours, drawings, archive and other exhibits on the eminent artist (1879-1940) who was born near Berne.

This was the place where Albert Einstein (1879-1955) developed his most important scientific works, among them the relativity theory.

From the Matterhorn to the Bernina – in this museum it is all close by. On the enormous mountain reliefs you can imagine to be flying over or climbing on top of the mountains.

Berne’s Museum of Fine Arts (which opened in 1879) is the oldest art museum in Switzerland with a permanent collection. It houses outstanding exhibits covering eight centuries.

This is one of the leading natural history museums in Switzerland and comprises one of the largest diorama displays in Europe.

Under the attractive arcades of Berne’s historic old-town quarter you will find a vast variety of an-tique shops and modern boutiques.

This popular market is held every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the year on the Waisenhaus-platz. Also every Thursday (with late-night shopping) from May to October.

The Bernese „Zyglogge“ – Clock Tower – is this summer even more magnificent. After an extensive renova-tion of the façade, the roof and the clock mechanism, the Zytglogge is set and ready for this summer season.
