It is very practical that one can reach Berne so quickly at any time. Because the Swiss capital city is not only an ideal starting point for many marvellous excursion destinations, such as Zermatt, Lucerne, the Jungfraujoch and Lake Geneva. It also itself offers much more than many other large cities: picturesque arcades, countless boutiques, a historical medieval old town on the River Aare, and, of course, the bear pits (Bärengraben). In addition, with its unique cultural wealth, Berne has succeeded in elegantly creating a balance between antiquity and the modern, classic and dialect Rock, a gothic cathedral and the Zentrum Paul Klee. No wonder that this city was long ago chosen as the location for the Swiss Parliament Building.
